Giveaway: Moments Together for Couples

Back when I used to listen to our local Christian radio station every morning, I loved catching Dennis Rainey's FamilyLife Today broadcast. In just a few minutes each day he would share some poignant truth about God's plan for couples and families. I found him so informative and encouraging that I jumped on an opportunity to purchase his first book of daily devotions (now a national best-seller). Together with his wife Barbara, Dennis Rainey wrote Moments Together for Couples as a Scripture-focused discussion and reflection guide aimed at helping couples draw "near to God and one another." My husband and I aren't reading it ourselves, so I would like to offer our copy to another blessed couple.

We foster intimacy through daily devotionals. They are so wonderful in helping us communicate. The one we use has quizzes and questions to answer so it is very helpful. We also try to have a night out just the two of us at least every two months and hope to increase that to once a month now that the baby is older.

I almost bought this book today!!!!How funny! Although, not for my hubby and I...i was going to get it as a gift for friends who are marrying at the end of May! I would love to win this for them!!!!!

We share spiritual intimacy in our marriage through devotions every morning and then we pray together. Praying together is such a huge thing for me....it has brought us sooo much closer..and although it was awkward at first....now it totally feels right! :)

I really want this book!
We cultivate intimacy by just spending time together talking.

Thanks for the contest! We keep ourselves close by talking... especially when we're driving in the car and the kids fall asleep, then we can really get a good conversation going about our deep-seated beliefs.

I think this book would be great for us! This may sound odd, but we've had some rather major challenges (financial, etc) in our life recently and they have really pulled us closer together and toward God.

My husband and I have a couple's devotional Bible that we read from every day. We take turns doing the reading. We've really enjoyed discussing, debating, and sharing the Word together. Like another poster, we're also trying to spend more time "as a couple" without our 1-year-old little girl. Finally, we also enrolled in some couples therapy sessions to improve the lines of communication between us.

My husband and I decided early on in our marriage that we helping each other grow spiritually would be primary in importance, so we try always to read at least one chapter of the Bible together before bedtime. It works great that way because the children are sleeping (no distractions) and no matter what our day was like, it ends on a great note and puts life back in perspective.

We share intimacy in our marriage by not allowing anything to get in the way of what is most important...which is our walk together with God. It is so easy to put the kids first time after time, but you aren't married to your children! We put each other first, and we try to get away at least once or twice a year to just regroup. It's hard to do with small kids...especially when you've got 4 with #5 on the way. It's like there aren't many people jumping at wanting to watch your kids for you. I think it's important to put that time aside and make sure that you are having daily devotions and prayer time with each other. It's amazing how things can unravel when you don't set aside quiet time with your spouse.

This October, I'm going to Chicago for the True Woman conference...I believe Barbara Rainey will be there....I'm very excited about it!

I would love this book for me and my hubby! We try to lay in bed and cuddle as we pray together and talk about our day before we fall asleep!

We talk and talk. It is hard sometimes, but we need to keep all aspects of our lives an open book and sharing our spiritual life helps, too.

When I come home from work, we cuddle and talk about life together. I really want this book!

I think one of our problems is that we don't specifically cultivate this intimacy. And I am super shy about sharing myself - except in the written word. So maybe this would help? Thanks!

We sit in bed and pray Morning and Evening prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. We make a special point of adding all of our intercessions after the "scripted" ones.

We have made an agreement that anytime one of us notices a strain in our relationship (e.g. the silent treatment, etc.) we will ask the other to pray together - immediately. We have committed to always respond "yes" to this request and it really helps.

We foster intimacy the best way we know how...to pray together daily. As we tuck into bed at night, we hold each (or spoon) while we pray together aloud. We met at the age of 14 at church camp, so we have been praying together since we were kids. Now we pray FOR our kids!

We pray and worship together. We try to stay up late and just hang out after the kids go to bed. what a great giveaway.

We surround ourselves with the things of God, we talk of Him, we teach Him to our children, we all pray together, we communicate well -- all important! We would *love* to have this book help us, too! Thank you!

For intimacy, hubby and I pray together about our friends and family members. We also walk on our city's walking bridge together, without the kids, and catch up on stuff and just talk. A lot of times, we just wait for the kids to go to bed and get our favorite blankets out and cuddle while watching a documentary or studying a passage together. I'm at 4bizkidz@bellsouth.net
